This is probably going to be my most unplanned post ever because I was just trying to scroll and read through Substack as I internally overthink my comeback here. Then the thought came, isn't writing all about expressing yourself? Why do I have to wait to make it perfect duh!
Hence this.
Guys, my last post here was July 12th, that's 2 months ago. January me probably thought I would be steady dishing out posts here and there like no man’s business but life said “yoo, I've got a rollercoaster ride for you.”
I’m crashing out real bad rn…
Not in the everything-feels-like-it's-going-against-me kinda way but in the how-did-I-get-here kinda way?
Basically, it's my multiple impulsive purchases that has led me here. Whew! 🫠 I just said let me get 1 or 2, before I knew it, my body started itching to buy more.
In no particular order, purchase 1 is my new tablet.
On a random Thursday evening, my heart said “you need a tablet for an easier workflow.” I said “oya now.” Friday came, and I found myself scouting for possible tablets within my budgets on TikTok. Saturday dawned and I found myself in Computer Village Ikeja getting a Redmi tablet. How now? 🥲
When I got the debit alert, I then realised what had happened lol. “Did I just spend that?” I said. On some days, I would randomly look at my tab and be in awe like wow. Not only has it made my life easier but it's one of the best impulse purchase I have had to make.
Purchase 2 is getting a laptop bed stand + a Stanley cup.
This one happened like a dream. I wasn't one of those people that caught the Stanley cup bug neither did I even want it like that. But I got so stressed for weeks that I said wo, let me spoil myself with something cute. So I got one in baby pink with a matching straw cover. Drinking water has never been easier.
The laptop bed stand on the other hand has mostly been for eating my food while sitting in bed or on the couch. Because why not? Overall both purchases have been essential.
Purchase 3 is a combination of all my Temu orders.
Sighs in God abeg!
As I write this, I have two separate Temu orders on the way with multiple items in each and my first order from Temu was just a little bit over 10 days ago. So how did they gain my trust so fast? 🫠 If nothing, I'll give it up to whoever strategizes their marketing plans because tell me why Temu swayed me to spend 34k Naira under 4mins because they promised me 10k cash back? 😭 I sharply ordered it without thinking. Laughs in how come?
One thing took me to there, multiple things made me stay back. When I got my tablet (her name is Tabi btw), I knew I wanted to get a stylus pen alongside. But when Redmi said I have to spend 90k on a pen, my Ijebu instincts awakened. 90k Naira to write on a screen? No now. I remembered Temu and after several searches I found a good one. Try to guess how much… let me give you a minute.
I got it for approximately 6k Naira.
6k o and this pen hasn't acted it's price since I got it. Working crisp and perfect like it's meant to do. I've never been happier. We'll talk about my forthcoming Temu orders on another day.
For now, I just wanted to share how my impulse spending is making me crash out but will that still stop me from pressing checkout? Take a guess.

Don’t worry, I’d spend money on the same things too. And the baby pink Stanley cup? I’d buy it 10 times over. You’re not alone 😅
Eiiiiiiiiiiihhhhhhhhh (rushes off to Temu to add to cart because how is a stylus pen this cheap) 😭
